The European Debate: JMC-EPP at ECONSHIP 2026

European shipping policy, the European Port Strategy and the strategic challenges shaping the maritime sector were at the centre of the ECONSHIP 2026 Plenary: European Debate.

The session opened with a special intervention by Costas Kadis, European Commissioner for Fisheries and Oceans, setting the European policy context for the discussion that followed.

The plenary brought together Marina Hadjimanolis, Deputy Minister of Shipping of the Republic of Cyprus and the Jean Monnet in European Port Policy Chair Prof. Dr. Thanos Pallis to exchange perspectives on key developments affecting European shipping and ports and discuss the priorities that will shape their future.

The discussion, moderated by Dr.Ilias Bissias, highlighted the importance of continued dialogue between policymakers and academia as Europe navigates an increasingly complex maritime environment.
